Frequently Asked Questions

The Silhouette software is not compatible with Macintosh computers at this time. However, the Silhouette/Silhouette SD hardware can be connected to a Mac and will cut user-created designs from Adobe Illustrator software (not included). A plug in is required and available for download in the support section of our website. The plug in (compatible with Adobe Illustrator 8 through CS4) does include a basic instruction guide on cutting through Illustrator. Please note, however, that we cannot support third-party software not created by our company. We are only able to support the Silhouette/Silhouette SD hardware and Silhouette software.

You may be able to run the Silhouette software on your Mac if you have a program that runs Windows through your Mac computer (such as "Parallels" or "Boot Camp") and a copy of Windows. If you are able to do so, you would have full access to the software and "Purchase Online" section for additional images as you would on a PC.

We realize there are many who are waiting for a Mac version of the Silhouette software and ability for Mac users to download our Silhouette Digital Design images. While we'd of course love to produce such a version and are working toward this, we do not yet have an expected date range for when this will be available.
